Marking a milestone

by Emma

Software specialist Codify took guests back through the decades and gave a glimpse into the future during a special celebration to mark the firm’s 15th anniversary.

The Aberdeen-based company rolled back the years with an array of computer hardware from the 1980s and 90s as well as offering a taste of emerging technology during the event.

Nostalgic games on ZX Spectrum, Super Nintendo and Commodore 64 were among the most popular with visitors to the gathering - whilst an immersive virtual reality experience on an Oculus Rift provided a nod to the future of mainstream gaming. More than 80 people attended at the firm’s city centre office in Migvie House on North Silver Street, where an eye-catching timeline of technology and Codify’s journey was unveiled.

Whilst gaming was at the centre of the celebration, Codify’s success has been built on its expertise in delivering business software solutions to clients at home and abroad.

The company, which was founded in 2000 by Mark Griffiths, creates custom software solutions for a wide range of clients of different sizes across diverse industries and has grown to employ 25 people.

Managing director Graeme Humphrey said:

“This is a very special year for Codify as we mark our 15th anniversary. The millennium and all the attention that brought feels like a long time ago, but for everyone who has been part of the journey with Codify the past 15 years really have flown past.

“Working in such a fast moving sector ensures we are constantly evolving. The whole team is very proud of what has been achieved so far, as well as excited about what the future holds for the business. It has been fantastic to share our 15th birthday with so many friends of Codify.”

The company moved into 2015 boosted by a strong year with a number of high profile contract wins, including projects with asset integrity services specialists Stork, subsea services and enewable products company Balmoral Group and contract catering services provider EntiĆ©r. Throughout the year it has continued to deliver software solutions in the UK and Europe which have helped deliver efficiencies for organisations during the energy sector’s drive to counter the low oil price.

Graeme Humphrey added:

“We have been through many different cycles in the past 15 years and that experience allows us to respond to client needs with bespoke solutions. Now more than ever it is vital to ensure investment is used wisely and we are working with companies with a clear focus on getting the best from their systems.”
